James will be starting their shows at 8pm each night on the forthcoming tour with the Orchestra Of The Swan and Manchester Consort Choir. The set will consist of two parts with an interval and should finish by 10.30pm. According to a post by Joe Duddell, who has arranged and scored the set, 31 songs have been rehearsed so there should be plenty of scope for the set to evolve during the tour.
James are to be honoured by the Performing Rights Society who are erecting a plaque to commemorate James’ first Manchester gig at the Hacienda on 17 November 1982. The unveiling will take place on Tuesday 1 November during the upcoming tour. For more details of the award, visit the PRS website.
It would appear now that The Gathering Sound boxset has been delayed until at least November 7. Universal’s press release and the HMV site have this date, although the fact the band haven’t confirmed the date could mean the possibility of more delays.

On Saturday night, James headlined the Fiz Festival in Zaragoza, Spain. They played Lose Control, Seven, Waltzing Along, Born Of Frustration, Waterfall, Ring The Bells, Dream Thrum, Senorita, Whiteboy, Stutter, Out To Get You, Sound, Getting Away With It, Tomorrow and Sit Down with an encore of Laid. The band revealed that the set for the orchestra tour will be in two sections with an interval in the middle, and with no support. Prior to flying to Spain they had two full days of rehearsals with the choir and the orchestra and are excited about the choice of songs and the sound. Contrary to some rumours, the whole band will be playing on the tour. James did publish a live performance of Top Of The World from a workshop they did at Salford University on July 11-12 last year with the Manchester Consort Orchestra and Choir.
Tonight, James did an acoustic surprise set at the Ξαρχάκος bar in Thessaloniki. They played Rabbit Hole, Senorita, Say Something, I Wanna Go Home, Government Walls, She’s A Star, Getting Away With It (All Messed Up) and Laid.

Last night, Jim, Larry and Dave headlined Cavfest, a school PTA concert at Cavendish Primary School in Didsbury, Manchester, with Tom Hingley on guest vocals replacing Tim. The promoters have announced that James’ performance at the 2310 Festival in Thessaloniki, Greece this Thursday (7th) has been cancelled because of a general strike in Greece on that day. They claim James will play a replacement gig in September or October, although there is no confirmation from the band of this.
Ents24 have announced that the James boxset The Gathering Sound will be released on Monday 3 October. No confirmation from the band again and no dates on any of the major UK retail sites to confirm this as yet.

Local press have also reported that James are playing the Sunday night of the Funchal Music Festival on Sunday August 21. No confirmation from the band as yet.
Tim has also appeared on Peruvian TV to advertise the upcoming gig in Lima on 30 March.

James have confirmed their headline appearance at the Positivus Festival in Latvia on Saturday 16 July.
Tim’s official website has revealed that the amazon and I-Tunes download versions of the albums will have exclusive bonus tracks. Amazon gets Surrender, a re-recording of one of the planned b-sides for the cancelled Wave Hello single, and I-Tunes gets Love Life. You can listen to 30 second samples of the album on Amazon.

Tim Booth’s album Love Life will be released on April 4. Tim’s shop will exclusively sell initial copies of a Special Edition version of the album, priced at £24 plus postage, which features an 11 track vinyl LP with As Far As I Can See, Buried Alive, Harbour, All About Time, The Point Of Darkness, Consequences, Bless Them All, Monsters, Do Yourself A Favour, Shatters and Gloria Descends. The CD version features four additional tracks not available on the standard CD version – Faith, Next Door To Heaven and demo versions of Consequences and As Far As I Can See. It also features a sixteen page booklet containing some of Tim’s recent writings. Twenty signed copies will be available at the merchandise stand at Tim’s upcoming tour.
As with the James 2010 tour, Tim will be doing special VIP packages, priced at £18, which include access to at least 3 songs in the soundcheck, a Q and A session with Tim, early access to the venue and merchandise desk (handy for trying to ensure you get a signed Special Edition). These will go on sale next Wednesday via musicglue from Tim’s website.
Saul Davies will be joining the rest of the band – Tim, Lee Muddy Baker, Rob Kenny, Dan Leavers and Neil MacKenzie on the tour. Don’t expect any big James hits though!

James appear to be playing Estadio do Bessa in Porto on Friday June 3 to celebrate 75 years of Rádio Renascença, according to this Portuguese website
Listings released to music distributors appear to have pencilled in the long-delayed The Gathering Sound James boxset for a June release. Don’t hold your breath just yet though.

Tim Booth has announced the release of his next solo album (a collaboration) called Love Life on Monday 4 April. Available worldwide as a download and from his website as a physical CD and a limited signed special edition, it is the follow up to the album Bone. It includes Tim’s first ever solo penned song As Far As I Can See, and collaborations with Lee Muddy Baker and KK.

James have announced that they will be playing the Lollapalooza Festival in O’Higgins Park, Santiago, Chile on Saturday 2 April. They will appear fourth on the bill behind The Killers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The National.
