Dates connected with James: | 1983-1992 |
Contribution/Role/Speciality: | Manager |
Martine first worked with James in 1983 as part of Pro-Motions, a company hired by Factory to deal with PR for their artists. She became close to James and left with the band to become their manager when they signed to Sire in 1985. She was responsible for the infamous James daisy and finding an audience member at a London show wearing the JA-M-ES shirt that would make James so much money in the late eighties and early nineties. She was involved in a long-term relationship with Tim that led to the birth of their son Ben in 1989 and the song and album Gold Mother were focused on this. They split not too long after, but Martine continued to manage James until 1994 when Peter Rudge took over. She is now an author.
