The cult Manchester band The Man From Del Monte supported James in 1988 on their October tour and again at Futurama Festival in October 1989.
They released a live album Big Noise on cassette and vinyl and a compilation cassette of all their EPs entitled Catholic Boys On Mobilettes. Both were later reissued by Vinyl Japan on CD, Catholic Boys being enhanced by a radio session and unreleased demos from the era under the title The Good Things In Life. They did record demos for an album release, but split up before the final recording sessions. Front man Mike West formed a band called Surfurbia that released one EP called Neighbourhood, before he moved to the States and produced a series of solo albums under his own name.
