Hang On is track seven on the 1990 James album Gold Mother. It was replaced by Sit Down on the 1991 reissue, but was added back to the 2001 expanded version. It also appeared as a b-side to the 1998 Runaground triple CD package for more recent fans.
Despite being removed from Gold Mother, the song still featured in setlists in 1991 and 1992 and as resurrected at the start of the April 2000 Mirrorball tour.

Hang on, she said
Hang on, she said
Hang on, she said
Hang on, she said
I am ignoring all your late night calls
I prefer to sleep than feel so small
I have this feeling
I'm about to crumble and fall
Are you going to the discotheque?
Cigarettes, perfume, drink and sweat
I prefer a good book and you in bed
Hang on, she said
Hang on, she said
Hang on, she said
Hang on, she said
Why are we fighting?
When we should be close
To a wedding
Which would be better than most
We should be in our hearts
Not at our throats, throats
Hang on, she said
Hang on, she said
Hang on, she said
Hang on, she said
Be a good friend tonight
Understand, see it from my side
Be a good friend tonight
One day you will see me in a better light
Now I can feel that you are mad with me
Is it justified or imaginary?
Tell me one day how you would like me to be
Living with you is a dangerous flame
You sweep me away and then you drive me insane
Keep your distance I'm looking for someone to blame
Be a good friend tonight
Understand, see it from my side
Be a good friend tonight
One day you will see me in a better light
In better light
Hang on, she said
Hang on, she said
Hang on, she said
Hang on, she said
Hang on
Hang on, she said
Hang on, she said
Hang on, she said

Song Structure:
The song begins with Tim singing "Hang On" over the chords D5 and G5/D .
After that the song follows a Dm G C chord progression throughout, with Larry playing the Dm chord and then using the whammy bar (listen to the song and you'll hear what I mean). Three "solos" crop up, the second of which is tabbed above. The first one is an abbreviated version of the one above, and the third is practically identical to the second so I've tabbed all you'll need. Bits of it also crop up in the "chorus" type parts of the song.
